The Briar Club

Constrained by only having a 5.5 acre campus in an urban area, The Briar Club embarked on a five year phased regeneration project while maintaining a fully functioning country club.  The phases consisted of:

Phase 1

  • Relocate employee parking offsite
  • Demolish existing clubhouse
  • Build temporary member parking

Phase 2

  • Demolish existing member parking lot
  • Build a 4 story 530 space 175,000 sf parking garage

Phase 3

  • Demolish an existing tennis court
  • Build a 2 story 2,500 sf fitness building complete with men’s locker room and bar
  • Build a six lane 25 meter heated and cooled adult lap pool

Phase 4

  • Demolish temporary member parking lot
  • Build a 3 story 44,000 sf clubhouse complete with two kitchens, three bars, three dining rooms, three ballrooms, party room, wine room, president’s room, library, and employee offices

Phase 5

  • Replace the existing pool with a 215,000 gallon 5,585 sf resort pool which can be heated and cooled and includes a 1 meter diving board, a 3 meter diving board, and a slide. The resort pool area also included a 945 gallon 126 sf kiddie pool.
  • Build a 2 story 2,600 sf Kids Club
  • Build a 3,100 sf kitchen/cafe to service the pool decks
  • Build a 2 story 3,200 sf security building and skybridge over Timmons to the parking garage
  • Build three new tennis courts
  • Build a play structure with artificial turf
